This month at Endless Summer Hot Yoga the ⭐Rockstar Spotlight⭐ is shining on Julia!

We are so happy to have her (and her mom and sister) practicing with us 💙💛

See what she has to say about her practice at ESHY:

1. When did you start doing Hot Yoga?
The first class I ever took was in my senior year of high school at a hot yoga studio called Hot Yoga Auburn in Massachusetts. I went there for about a year and then stopped going when I was in college where I played soccer and spent most of my time in the gym. I then moved to Florida after graduating with my Master's in occupational therapy from Springfield College and started going to Thavma Yoga in Bradenton for about a year. Finally, I ended up moving to Nokomis where I found Endless Summer Hot Yoga!

2. What studio?
The first studio I ever went to was called Hot Yoga Auburn in Massachusetts where Sam Goldman taught.

3. What do you like the most about Hot Yoga?
I was so used to working out in the gym strength training 5-6 days a week on top of having a physically demanding job where I began experiencing low back pain. Hot yoga has allowed me to continue to stay active and feel like I’m having a great workout without putting too much strain on my body. I also experience little to no back pain now. Now I have a healthy mix of going to the gym and yoga where I’m not overdoing it! Not to mention the amazing mental health/emotional benefits yoga brings to my everyday life.

4. What’s your favorite posture and why?
Standing Bow Pulling Pose! It was one of the first poses I saw in a yoga class where I thought to myself, I could never make my body move in that way. After lots and lots of practice I’m finally starting to see improvements in my form and ability to move my body. It just shows how patience and practice really goes a long way.

5. What would you tell a new student?
To be patient and not too hard on yourself. You will see changes if you stick with it. It’s especially hard if you are a perfectionist, but the challenge of it brings me back every time. Also to try new classes and stick with them even if you don’t like them the first couple of times! Ashtanga was my least favorite class, but I made myself go each week for a month and it slowly became my favorite class (shoutout to Daniel).

6. What’s your favorite thing about Endless Summer Hot Yoga?
The staff and people that go! It’s such a supportive and caring environment. I look forward to seeing the instructors and other students showing up every day to be the best version of themselves. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Well, Julia, we are happy you have found your way to us at ESHY in Venice! Your big smile and quiet determination make it a pleasure for all of us here at the studio. We look forward to many more classes with you!
